‘Arrow’ Preview: “The Calm” [Photos and Videos]

The season premiere of Arrow is finally here and I think it’s going to be the best season yet. Last season Oliver and Thea had to deal with the death of their mother which was a huge shocker to everyone watching. I may or may not have teared up during those final moments. Thea found out that Malcolm Merlyn is her father and Laurel found out Oliver’s true identity and is now officially part of the gang. Oh and Diggle is also expecting a child with Lyla, so that will definitely be interesting to see how they handle that. Assuming that Oliver would never let Diggle out in the field anymore, especially that he’s a father-to-be.

In the teasers for the season premiere, fans are focusing on this “date” that Oliver and Felicity are slated to go on. I mean, aren’t you? Olicity forever! Per the promo (featured below), while Oliver is involved in a high-speed chase he asks her if she likes Italian, but sadly we all know that it’ll be interrupted by some villain on the loose. However, we do see that Oliver tells her a secret he’s been hiding about his five years away, that he wasn’t always on the island.

Romance has been a tricky issue for Arrow as we’ve seen with Oliver and Laurel, and also the fact that those two have zero chemistry together, but Felicity is a whole different story. Here’s hoping that’ll work out.

The premiere also introduces a couple of new characters including Count Vertigo (Peter Stormare) and Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh). Meanwhile, Detective Lance has been promoted to Captain and apparently Oliver and Laurel are in business together.

Arrow premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 8/7c on The CW.

OLIVER SEARCHES FOR AN IDENTITY BEYOND THE ARROW — With crime in Starling City at an all-time low thanks to the Arrow (Stephen Amell) and his team, Oliver thinks he can finally balance being both the Arrow and Oliver Queen and asks Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) out on a date. However, when a new villain (guest star Peter Stormare) emerges, who has claimed the name Vertigo from the recently deceased Count, Oliver is caught off-guard and someone close to him is hurt. Oliver and a newly suited up Roy (Colton Haynes) take on the Count. Meanwhile, Diggle (David Ramsey) becomes a father, Lance (Paul Blackthorne) is promoted to Captain, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) joins Arrow’s inner circle and Felicity gets a part-time job at a tech store to make ends meet. Also, Oliver fights to regain his company, Queen Consolidated, but comes up against a very worthy opponent — the charming Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh).
