‘The Vampire Diaries’ Preview: “Yellow Ledbetter” [Photos and Videos]

Judging by last week’s, premiere I can already tell this season is going to take us for a ride. Elena is doing witchy drugs to keep seeing Damon, Caroline spent the entire summer with her mother because of the newly drawn city line to where Mystic Falls starts and Stefan is pretty much running away from it all and ignoring Caroline’s 100 million phone calls. Let’s not forget about the rest of the boys though. Alaric is the new professor in town, Jeremy is in complete denial and hooking up with a different girl every night (I’m sorry, how does that differ from most guys?), and Tyler is “dealing” with his anger issues. Just because he’s human doesn’t mean he can’t trigger the curse and start the werewolf cycle all over again.

Meanwhile, Bonnie and Damon are having pancakes with smiley faces?! Where the hell are they? The Other Side is gone! According the trailer they’re lost in time, reliving the same day over and over again. How very Groundhog Day of them.

Also, Elena has turned to Alaric for help forgetting all things Damon. Like literally. He’s going to erase all of her memories of him. WTF?! That’s crazy pants. But then again, if I were sobbing uncontrollably 24/7 and doing witchy drugs to talk to my dead boyfriend, I would probably do the same.

Take a look inside this week’s episode titled “Yellow Ledbetter” with the one and only Julie Plec.

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

A LONG WAY HOME — Knowing she needs to come to terms with the loss of Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Elena (Nina Dobrev) turns to Alaric (Matt Davis) to help her move on with her life. Enzo (Michael Malarkey) convinces Caroline (Candice Accola) to join him as he tracks down a lead to get Damon and Bonnie (Kat Graham) back, but Caroline is shocked when they make an unexpected detour and uncover what Stefan (Paul Wesley) has been up to. Meanwhile, Matt (Zach Roerig) worries about Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) who is spending time with Sarah (guest star Gabrielle Walsh), a mysterious girl who has recently arrived in Mystic Falls. Elsewhere, Tripp (guest star Colin Ferguson), leader of the community protection program, makes an interesting confession to Matt about his connection to the town. Lastly, with the Other Side destroyed and gone for good, Damon and Bonnie reluctantly band together to uncover the mystery of where they are and how they are going to get back home.
