I knew this day would come! Casey Wilson will finally be back on my television screen on a weekly basis (if all goes well). NBC’s Marry Me is one of the cutest shows this fall TV season and let’s not forget it has a pretty talented cast as well, including Ken Marino, Tim Meadows and JoBeth Williams.
Marry Me feels like the story I’ve been hearing for years from a lot of my female friends. They’ve been dating their boyfriend for about six years and he still hasn’t popped the question – he’s afraid of commitment but you know they’re meant to be.
The series follows Jake and Annie as they tell their story of how they met and how they keep trying to propose to each other, as they just can’t seem to get it right. The show opens with Jake and Annie returning from a romantic getaway vacation and he still hasn’t proposed. So while he’s kneeling on one knee, she’s roaming around the kitchen yelling at him about how he missed the perfect moment (because she’s turned around), all while the entire family is hiding in the closets and rooms listening to her rant. Did I mention that Tim Meadows and Dan Bucatinsky play Annie’s dads? Sold.
It’s an adorable show that viewers will tune-in to because Ken Marino and Casey Wilson are just hilarious on their own but even more perfect when paired together. I was a huge fan of Happy Endings (Casey Wilson is my spirit animal) and Ken Marino is absolute perfection in everything he does, especially Veronica Mars and Eastbound & Down. Also, can you believe he’s 46??? Ridiculous.
Now I’m not sure what’s going to happen after the pilot, since they pretty much tell their story in one episode, but I’m sure those flashbacks will continue and show the gradual progression of their relationship that got them to where they are today. I feel like it might take some convincing to stick with it, but I’m in.
Marry Me premieres Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
