FX has just announced that season 2 of the vampire-ish series The Strain will premiere Sunday, July 12 at 10/9c.

The Strain, which was renewed after only six episodes back in August of last year, is based on the best-selling vampire novel trilogy of the same title written by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and author Chuck Hogan.

According to FX, The Strain was 2014’s most-watched new scripted series cable series in Adults 18-24 (2.4 million) and was even the most-watched premiere in FX history, with 12.7 million total viewers.

In Season 2 we find out that “New York City is rapidly falling to an evil epidemic, and no one is coming to its rescue. Its citizens must fight or die.”

In the teaser trailer that was released last week, we’re told that the “master is about to undergo a wondrous transformation.”

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to get infected all over again!
