‘Outlander’ Season 2: Premiere Date, Trailer and New Poster Revealed
Change the future…Forget the past…Rewrite history
Starz has just announced the premiere date for season 2 of their hit series Outlander as well as new key art and trailer which gave me ALL THE FEELS!
Outlander season 2 will premiere on Saturday, April 9 at 9/8c and it couldn’t come soon enough because this whole Droughtlander thing has gone on for too long!
The network teased us with some of the new costumes back in January, but this new poster is something else. Claire’s gorgeous red dress makes you travel back in time just from looking at it and you can’t miss the “Viva les Frasers” splashed across the image. Terry Dresbach did a phenomenal job on the costumes in the upcoming season. Check out People StyleWatch for their exclusive interview with Dresbach.
Last we saw Jamie and Claire, they found out they were pregnant and about to board a ship to France to see about changing the future…well, Jamie’s future and Claire’s knowledge of the past. The new trailer (seen below) shows us that Claire has indeed gone back to Frank and can barely look at him. I mean, I can barely look at him because now all we see is Black Jack Randall and all the horrible things he’s done.

5 Things You Need to Know About ‘Outlander’ Season 2
“This season changes everything for Claire and Jamie”
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been feeling empty inside without some Outlander in my life. I’VE BEEN IN DROUGHTLANDER!!!! Last we saw Jamie and Claire, they found out they were pregnant and about to board a ship to France to see about changing the future…well, Jamie’s future and Claire’s knowledge of the past.
At the Television Critics Association winter session, Starz gave the fans a bit of a teaser for what’s to come in season 2 of Outlander.
1. Bienvenue en France
The teaser showed Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) in France because that’s where Prince Charles Stuart is along with the rest of the Jacobites. They attend galas and dinners at the King’s palace in order to infiltrate the Jacobite movement in hopes of stopping the battle of Culloden.
2. New Characters
Caitriona and Sam are excited for us to see the new cast members that are joining their little show. “We have some fantastic new characters coming in. There are new enemies, new allies,” added Heughan. Scottish actor Richard Rankin has been cast to play the fan favorite role of Roger Wakefield in season two. Roger is described as “intelligent, kindhearted, and charming, Roger is the grown up version of Reverend Wakefield’s adorable adopted son we met in Season One. After his parents died in World War II, Roger was raised by the Reverend (with help from his housekeeper, Mrs. Graham) and is a proud Scot through and through. Now a professor at Oxford, Roger has a keen interest in history, and all the secrets and insight it presents.”
3. Diana Gabaldon on her writing
Dayum! A reporter tried to get Diana Gabaldon to throw some serious shade today, referencing George R.R. Martin’s inability to finish the book in time for Game of Thrones.“Unlike George, I write no matter where I am or whatever I’m doing.” Gabaldon added, “I don’t plan books out ahead of time or write in a straight line. I knew there was more to Outlander after the first book.” She says it’s been a very collaborative process and has even written one of the episodes in the upcoming season.
4. Premiere Date
While we still don’t have an exact date, we do know that the second season of Outlander will premiere in April 2016 on Starz.
5. The costumes
Terry Dresbach did a phenomenal job on the upcoming season. Check out some of the gorgeous pieces Caitriona and Sam get to wear in season two.

‘Outlander’ Preview: “Lallybroch”
Lallybroch Lallybroch
Oh Lally Lally Lally
This week’s episode of Outlander is a bit of a “cool down” episode if you will. Now that Jamie is able to go home, for now, we get to see his home at Lallybroch and meet his sister, Jenny, that he hasn’t seen in nearly four years. There’s quite a bit of tension between those two and she’s is pretty sassy if I do say so myself. .
The episode titled “Lallybroch,” features a lot of flashback scenes where we find out what truly happened the day Jamie protected Jenny, when he was pretty much whipped all day by none other than Jack Randall.
And if you need a little refresher on what happened before this week’s episode, make sure to subscribe to Outlandish: the unofficial Outlander podcast!
Outlander airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Starz
The official synopsis for “Lallybroch”:
The synopsis: “Claire and Jamie make their way to Lallybroch – Jamie’s family home. Reality quickly sets in, and old wounds are reopened between Jamie and his sister, Jenny.”
