‘Will & Grace’ Returning to NBC with 10 New Episodes

They’re baaaack! NBC is officially bringing back Will & Grace for a 10-episode run. The revival series will air sometime  during the 2017-2018 season.

Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally will return with original series creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan as showrunners and executive producers. Director James Burrows, who directed every episode of the show during its initial eight-year run, is also on board to direct and executive produce.

“We’re thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and most defining comedies in NBC history is coming back,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt. “This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social and political commentary — all disguised as a high-speed train of witty pop culture — is coming back where it belongs.”

Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment, added: “We started talking with Mutchnick and Kohan about producing new episodes right after they shot the secret reunion show back in September, and the fact that all four of the original stars were excited about getting back into production is a testament to the joyful experience they had doing nearly 200 episodes for eight seasons. Few things cut through the clutter these days, especially in comedy, and ‘Will and Grace’ is one of the best.”

Said Mutchnick: “Dave and I are absolutely thrilled about the opportunity to write what Will, Grace, Jack and Karen are thinking about in 2017.”

NBC’s time-traveling drama series Timeless has been given the order for 3 additional episodes, bringing the full-season total to 16. The peacock network has also announced that new action series Taken will launch Monday, Feb. 27 at 10 p.m. The series, starring international superstar Clive Standen, immediately follows the debut of the spring cycle of the three-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series The Voice.

“Monday nights are critical to our success,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, “and we’re going strong into the rest of the season with the return of The Voice in February followed by the premiere of Taken, along with additional episodes of our great new series Timeless. We’re very happy to welcome Gwen Stefani back to The Voice, along with Blake, Adam, and our new coach Alicia Keys. And Taken is a thrilling new series inspired by the hit movie franchise but updated in a very clever way.”

Timeless is a phenomenal new show that takes the audience emotionally to a completely different place and time each week,” added Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to be ordering additional episodes so that we can run the final six hours of the season in a row with no pre-emptions after the new year. Our hats are off to Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan for producing one of the most ambitious new shows anywhere on television.”

Timeless, which stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnjić, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit, has averaged a 2.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 10.7 million viewers overall in live + 7, making it the top-rated Monday drama so far this season in 18-49. The freshman drama series is undefeated in its Monday 10-11 p.m. ET slot among the ABC, CBS and NBC dramas thus far in “live plus same day” ratings through its first four weeks on the schedule.

Timeless will air without interruptions from Nov. 14 through December 12 and Jan. 16 through Feb. 20, before going dark.

Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke are the co-showrunners, writers and executive producers. John Davis, John Fox and Marney Hochman also executive produce.

Jimmy Fallon Set to Host 2017 Golden Globes

Late Night With Jimmy Fallon - Season 4

Late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon will take center stage by kicking off the 2017 Award season Jan. 8 from the Beverly Hilton.

Jimmy Fallon has been named host of the “74th Annual Golden Globe Awards,” set to air on NBC live coast-to-coast from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017 from 8-11 p.m. ET (5-8 p.m. PT).

The Tonight Show host, whose contract runs through 2021, previously won rave reviews for his performance as host of the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards. The Tonight Show is currently nominated for two Emmys this year, including Outstanding Variety Series Talk.

January’s three-hour Golden Globes telecast will serve as the official kick-off to the 2017 awards season.

“We’re thrilled to announce Jimmy as host of ‘The 74th Annual Golden Globes,’” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt. “This is the most spontaneous and uninhibited award show on television, and Jimmy’s playful, disarming comedic brilliance makes him the ideal host to enhance and elevate the sense of fun and irreverence that’s made the Golden Globes one of the premier events of the entire broadcast year.”

“Jimmy Fallon is an exceptionally talented and dynamic entertainer and we couldn’t be more excited that he’ll be hosting the 2017 Golden Globes,” said Lorenzo Soria, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. “His charm, wit and incredible spontaneity will play exceedingly well both to everyone at the show as well as the millions watching at home from around the world.”

“Jimmy Fallon’s brand of comedy will continue the tradition of cutting-edge excitement viewers have come to expect from the host of the Golden Globes,” said Allen Shapiro, CEO of dick clark productions.

The 2016 telecast of the Golden Globes averaged a 5.5 rating, 16 share in adults 18-49 and 18.5 million viewers overall in “live plus same day” ratings from Nielsen Media Research, making it the #1 entertainment telecast on the broadcast networks for the week of Jan. 4-10 in the key 18-49 demographic.

“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” remains the dominant force in late night, leading all other competitors in every key measure — adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers. In fact, “The Tonight Show” has won 46 of 46 weeks to date versus the competition in adults 18-49 and the last 45 in a row in total viewers.

Nominations for the Golden Globes will be announced Monday, Dec. 12. Winners are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Produced by dick clark productions in association with the HFPA, the Golden Globe Awards are viewed in more than 236 countries worldwide and are one of the few awards ceremonies to include both motion picture and television achievements.

IMG_1591

Netflix’s drama series Black Mirror will return for a third season on Friday, October 21, it was announced today at the Television Critics Association summer session in Beverly Hills, CA.

The anthology series which first premiered in the UK on Britain’s Channel 4 and was then later picked up by the streaming giant, will return with six 1-hour episodesIf you haven’t watched any of the series, I definitely recommend checking out the first two seasons before October rolls around. Black Mirror is about technology and how it interacts with us in our everyday lives and how it could change and grow and become more involved like smart homes, implants and basically turning our world into Minority Report.

“Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us. The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones. Its third season, comprising six episodes:

Netflix Sets ‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival Premiere Date, Releases First Trailer

IMG_1590

Amy Sherman-Palladino’s series about a fast-talking mother and daughter a.k.a Lorelai squared finally has a premiere date and trailer.

Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will premiere Thanksgiving weekend on November 25, 2016 at 12:01 a.m. PT. The series will consist of four 90-minute episodes, covering a different season of the year. The streaming giant teased the first two minutes of Winter for the critics in the room, but since you weren’t there, we’ll just have to show you the first official teaser trailer.

The series will be released all at one, per usual, even though Sherman-Palladino would prefer a week-by-week situation. And don’t worry, the last four words are just as important this time around, so don’t go spoiling it for everyone, ok?!

The cast was thrilled to return to step into the shoes of these now iconic characters. “I knew it would be special right from the get-go,” said Scott Patterson who plays Luke. “The more time goes by, the more satisfying it becomes and the show becomes iconic.” Patterson gave a nice shoutout to the ATX Television Festival for “driving it home to all parties involved.”

Lauren Graham added: “For me, it was an incredible experience. It was like going to college when you’re really ready. We were given the gift to go back knowing those things and it was a rare opportunity.”

Of course, someone brought up the Melissa McCarthy controversy which Sherman-Palladino quickly shot down, saying, “we all knew between us that we would make it work one way or another. It somehow took on a life of its own. She and Lauren [Graham] have a weird Lucy and Ethel thing and you kind of have to see it, to get it.” “Melissa came on one of our last days and it was so great,” added Graham. “Had it not happened it would have felt like a gap.”

Let’s not forget all of Rory’s boyfriends, all of whom  will “make an appearance in one way or another,” says Bledel.
