‘Scandal’ Premiere Preview: “Heavy is the Head”

SCANDAL - "Heavy is the Head" - Olivia and Fitz are back together again and enjoying every scandalous moment together while Cyrus, Mellie and Huck are all still dealing with the aftermath of helping Command. Meanwhile, when a visit from the Queen of Caldonia and her family turns into a tragedy, Olivia is hired to make sure the Royal family's private life stays private, on the Season 5 premiere of "Scandal," THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 24 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. “What happens now?”

“Whatever we want.”

Well, a whole lot of craziness went down in the Season 4 finale that I’m still trying to process. Let’s do a little recap, shall we? Mellie got herself into a big ole mess with Damascus aka Eli Pope aka Rowen, which ended up securing her Senate seat, but at what cost? She inadvertently killed the entire B613 jury just by handing out a list of names. And who killed all those people? Huck did and Quinn was the only one to figure it out, mostly because they’re both obsessed with killing people and she recognized his moves. She basically puts a gun to his head saying she should kill him. He wants her to. Sadly we had to wait all summer to find out what happened.

Meanwhile, Fitz finds out about Mellie’s little secret and ends up kicking her out of the house…the White House that is. Not like that’s really going to make a difference. Except now he can live happily ever after with Liz in Vermont. Oh, and let’s not forget about Fitz firing Cyrus. I mean….good lord! That should have been done years ago, but he’s good, I mean, bad, but great!

Anywho, will we find Liv and Fitz just “snuggling” in a bed in their Vermont home? The trailer definitely leads us to believe that is the case.

I’m so excited to see how Shonda will handle all the drama this season. I’m headed over to buy a bunch of red wine. This will be me tonight.

ABC Releases Fall 2015 Schedule: ‘The Muppets’ & ‘Quantico’ Land on Tuesdays, Shonda’s ‘Catch’ Held for Midseason

Now that both NBC and Fox have released their fall schedules, it’s ABC’s turn to share what’s new and what’s, well, not, for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

ABC has been, shall we say, “kinder” to their shows as far as schedule changes and even cancellations go. If it ain’t broke, don’t do anything, because it’s Shondaland, and it’s working just fine. Let’s break down all the new shows that are coming to ABC this fall, shall we?!

Capture

The Muppets will air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. followed by returning comedy Fresh Off the Boat. New drama series Quantico will follow Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the newly open 10 p.m. time slot. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays will pretty much stay the same and Fridays will welcome new comedy Dr. Ken, starring Ken Jeong, where Cristela once was at 8:30 p.m. New soapy drama Oil, starring Don Johnson and Chace Crawford, and the biblical saga Of Kings and Prophets, will fill the spots that were once held by Revenge and Resurrection at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. respectively.

Now let’s not forget about all the new shows that will premiere midseason like Shonda Rhimes’ new drama series The Catch, starring Mireille Enos, that will most likely join the fan-favorite TGIT lineup once How to Get Away with Murder is over. Thriller series The Family starring Joan Allen will sub in for Kings and Prophets on Sundays at 10 p.m. Anthology series Wicked City starring Ed Westwick and Erika Christensen will join the Tuesday night lineup, subbing in for Quantico.

Wait a minute…can we just go back a little and talk about how Ed Westwick AND Chace Crawford will be on our television screens again!!!

New Comedies

DR. KEN
Doctor-turned-actor/comedian Ken Jeong (“Community,” “The Hangover”), plays Dr. Ken, a brilliant physician with no bedside manner. He is always trying to be a good doctor as well as a good husband and dad to his two kids. However, these good intentions have a way of driving everyone crazy at work and at home. Luckily, his therapist wife, Allison, is just the right partner to keep things sane. Cast: “Dr. Ken” stars Ken Jeong as Dr. Ken, Suzy Nakamura as Allison, Tisha Campbell-Martin as Damona, Dave Foley as Pat, Jonathan Slavin as Clark, Albert Tsai as Dave and Krista Marie Yu as Molly.

THE MUPPETS
The Muppets return to primetime with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time ever, a series will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. This is a more adult Muppet show, for “kids” of all ages.

THE REAL O’NEALS
A fresh take on a seemingly perfect Catholic family whose lives take an unexpected turn when surprising truths are revealed. Instead of ruining their family, the honesty triggers a new, messier chapter where everyone stops pretending to be perfect and actually starts being real. Cast: “The Real O’Neals” stars Martha Plimpton as Eileen, Jay R. Ferguson as Pat, Noah Galvin as Kenny, Matthew Shively as Jimmy, Bebe Wood as Shannon and Mary Hollis Inboden as Jodi.

UNCLE BUCK
Based on the hit movie of the same name, Uncle Buck (Mike Epps) is a fun-loving but irresponsible guy who needs a job and a place to stay. By happy coincidence, his nieces’ and nephew’s nanny has just quit and his brother and sister-in-law need his help. His unconventional personality may just make him the right fit for the family and they may be the answer to his problems, too. Cast: “Uncle Buck” stars Mike Epps as Buck, Nia Long as Alexis, James Lesure as Will, Iman Benson as Tia, Sayeed Shahidi as Miles and Aalyrah Caldwell as Maizy.

New Dramas

THE CATCH
From Shondaland’s Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, “The Catch” is a new thriller centered on the strong, successful Alice Martin (Mireille Enos). She’s a fraud investigator who’s about to be the victim of fraud herself by her fiancé. Between her cases, she is determined to find him before it ruins her career. Cast: “The Catch” stars Mireille Enos as Alice, Alimi Ballard as Evan, Damon Dayoub as Kieran, Jay Hayden as James, Jacky Ido as Emil, Bethany Joy Lenz as Zoe, Rose Rollins as Andie and Elvy Yost as Maria.

THE FAMILY
This thriller follows the return of a politician’s young son who was presumed dead after disappearing over a decade earlier. As the mysterious young man is welcomed back into his family, suspicions emerge — is he really who he says he is? Cast: “The Family” stars Joan Allen as Claire, Alison Pill as Willa, Margot Bingham as Sergeant Nina Meyer,
Zach Gilford as Danny, Liam James as Adam, Floriana Lima as Bridey, Madeleine Arthur
as Young Willa, Rarmian Newton as Young Danny, Rupert Graves as John and Andrew McCarthy as Hank

OF KINGS AND PROPHETS
An epic Biblical saga of faith, ambition and betrayal as told through the eyes of a battle-weary king, a powerful and resentful prophet and a resourceful young shepherd on a collision course with destiny. OIL
Billy and Cody Lefever dream of a new life beyond their working class roots and move to “The Bakken” in North Dakota, booming after the biggest oil discovery in American history. Cast: “OIL” stars Don Johnson as Hap, Chace Crawford as Billy, Rebecca Rittenhouse as Cody, Delroy Lindo as Tip, Amber Valletta as Carla, Scott Michael Foster as Wick, India de Beaufort as Jules, Yani Gellman as AJ and Caitlin Carver as Lacey.

QUANTICO
A diverse group of recruits has arrived at the FBI Quantico Base for training. Cast: “Quantico” stars Priyanka Chopra as Alex, Dougray Scott as Liam, Jake McLaughlin as Ryan, Aunjanue Ellis as Miranda, Yasmine Al Massri as Nimah, Johanna Braddy as Shelby, Tate Ellington as Simon and Graham Rogers as Caleb.

WICKED CITY
“Wicked City” follows a unique case set in a noteworthy era of L.A. history, starting with a murder case from 1982 centered on the rock ’n’ roll, cocaine-infused revelry of the Sunset Strip. Alliances are formed between detectives, reporters, drug dealers and club-goers to solve a serial murder case. “Wicked City” stars Ed Westwick as Kent, Erika Christensen as Betty, Adam Rothenberg as Jack, Taissa Farmiga as Karen, Gabriel Luna as Paco, Karolina Wydra as Dianne, Holley Fain as Trish, Darrell Britt-Gibson as Diver and Anne Winters as Vicki.

ABC Renews ‘Agent Carter,’ ‘Castle,’ ‘The Goldbergs,’ Shonda Rhimes TGIT Trio and More

135125_0677

It’s time.

May is officially upon us, which means all five networks will announce their decisions for the upcoming 2015-16 TV season. Has your favorite show been renewed or canceled? Let’s find out.

ABC announced late Thursday night that they’ve renewed a whopping 22 series. That’s quite a lot of shows, but sadly not all of them are our favorites. The network is giving freshman comedies black-ish, Fresh Off the Boat, and even Galavant a second season along with dramas Agent Carter, American Crime, Secrets & Lies, and How to Get Away with Murder. Even shows that were teetering on the bubble like Nashville (for Season 4) and long-running drama series Castle (for Season 8) were given life for another season.

Additional renewals include the rest of Shonda Rhimes TGIT trio, Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, as well as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Once Upon a Time, The Middle, The Goldbergs, and Modern Family.

Let’s not forget about the alternative shows like America’s Funniest Home Video, The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars, Shark Tank, Shark Tank: Beyond the Tank, and 20/20 which are all coming back for another season.

As far as cancelations go, Cristela, Revenge, Resurrection, The Taste and my personal favorite which I’m sad to see go, Forever, has joined the likes of Manhattan Love Story and Selfie. Still no word yet on Last Man Standing.

For a full list of what’s been renewed and canceled, go here.

ABC Cancels ‘Revenge’ After 4 Seasons

MADELEINE STOWE

The soapy drama that just wouldn’t die has finally come to an end. According to EW, ABC has just announced that they’ve canceled Revenge, the drama series starring Madeleine Stowe and Emily VanCamp, after four seasons.

The series which was a total success when it debuted back in 2011, just hasn’t kept its momentum over the last couple of seasons. After killing off main characters and revealing major plot lines, there really wasn’t much left to tune-in to. Normally I’d say, “but that’s just me,” but it really isn’t. After premiering to 10 million viewers, Revenge has garnered only about 4.5 million viewers as of late with a 1.0 rating in 2015.

The show’s executive producer Sunil Nayar told EW, “We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story. We’ve been talking to the network and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale—which is fabulous—everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to, to end. This is the series finale of Revenge that will be airing in a couple weeks.”

The series finale of Revenge will air Sunday, May 10 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

Basically, Michael (Matthew Del Negro) gets into trouble and the Gladiators have to fix it by, you know, upping the wedding. First of all, we haven’t even seen Michael in weeks so where the hell has he been all this time?! Also, are they still pretending to be together? Poor Cyrus.

Meanwhile, David is going through with his plan to take down B613. Big mistake. Huge!

Juliette Lewis plays Detective Andrea Cornell, the lead investigator, who pegs Ben as “a person of interest” from the very beginning. As the story unfolds we find ourselves trying to decide whether or not Ben had something to do with it. Is he guilty or not?

Did he or didn’t he?

The official synopsis for “The Trail” & “The Father”:

Ryan Phillippe portrays Ben Crawford, a handsome and decent family man, who will never be the same after he discovers the body of his neighbor’s young son in the woods. Even as Detective Andrea Cornell, played by Juliette Lewis, digs for the truth in her investigation and pegs Ben as a “person of interest,” the case unfolds from Ben’s unique perspective — whether he is guilty or not. In trying to clear his name, it is Ben who peels back the layers of these suburbanites’ lives in their quiet cul de sac, revealing their dirty little deceptions and all-too-crowded closets overflowing with skeletons in this 10-episode thrilling who-done-it.
In the first hour, in the pilot entitled “The Trail,” Ben is out for his usual morning jog when he comes upon the body of young Tom Murphy. After the news begins to spread throughout town, Detective Cornell, who’s been assigned to the case, pays Ben a visit for routine questioning. In the blink of an eye, Ben quickly turns from Good Samaritan to murder suspect. As the formidable detective searches for the facts, the media hone in on Ben and his family, and he struggles to escape from the pressure. From that point on, Ben’s life is turned upside down as he sets out on a complicated journey to prove his innocence, on the two-hour premiere of “Secrets and Lies.”
In the second hour, in the episode entitled “The Father,” Ben decides to take matters into his own hands by investigating those that were closest to Tom after receiving shocking information about the case from Detective Cornell. Jess, Tom’s mother, propels Ben in the direction of her estranged husband, Scott, who she believes may be his killer. At home, Ben’s family continues to drift apart when he overhears his oldest daughter, Natalie, on a suspicious phone call. Later, the family attends Tom’s funeral where the media continues to harass Ben and he is the focus of excruciating attention by the community. When the Crawford family returns home, one of Ben’s dark secrets is revealed in stunning fashion.
Is Ben innocent or guilty? He is fighting to keep his marriage, kids, job and reputation, and he is barely clinging to his sanity. As the investigation progresses, the close knit community starts to come apart at the seams, unraveling until the jaw-dropping conclusion.
“Secrets and Lies” stars Ryan Phillippe as Ben Crawford, Juliette Lewis as Detective Cornell, KaDee Strickland as Christy Crawford, Natalie Martinez as Jess Murphy, Dan Fogler as Dave Lindsey, Indiana Evans as Natalie Crawford and Belle Shouse as Abby Crawford.
Guest stars in “The Trail” include Melissa Gilbert as Lisa Daly, GregAlan Williams as Kevin Williams, Denise Dowse as Elaine Williams, Kate Ashfield as Vanessa Richardson, Steven Brand as Dr. Joseph Richardson and Eric Lange as Danny Pierce.

‘Castle’ Preview: Michael Mosley Returns as 3XK in Shocking Two-Parter

CASTLE -- "Resurrection" -- Photo Gallery

Guess who’s baaaaaack?! Jerry Tyson a.k.a. the 3XK serial killer, that’s who.

Thanks to EW, we learned back in January that Michael Mosley is set to return as famed serial killer 3XK in their annual two-parter episode. Castle and Beckett come face to face with their nemesis, Dr. Kelly Nieman, which then lead them to uncover connections to Tyson in tonight’s episode titled “Resurrection.”

For those that can’t remember, Tyson, who was known for killing women (three at a time) and all blondes, because of his hatred for his mother, first appeared in the series’ third season by tricking Castle and Beckett into letting him out of jail. He returns in season five by framing Castle for murder but not before having him help him fake his own death. Finally in season 6, Beckett and Castle solve a murder of victims that resemble Lanie and Esposito. But like a lot. Their deaths helped destroy all the evidence the NYPD previously had on the 3XK killer.

The episode in season 6 titled “Disciple” also introduced Beckett and Castle to Dr. Kelly Nieman, the 3XK wannabe, played by Annie Wersching.

In tonight’s episode, they go up against said doctor yet again! Dun-dun-dunnnn!

The official synopsis of “Resurrection”:

“Resurrection” – When clues in a murder implicate Castle and Beckett’s nemesis, Dr. Kelly Nieman (guest star Annie Wersching), Castle is called in to consult on the case. But as the team delves deeper into the investigation, they uncover connections to notorious serial killer Jerry Tyson (guest star Michael Mosley), onPart 1 of “Castle,” MONDAY, FEBRUARY 9 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Guest Cast: Annie Wersching as Dr. Kelly Nieman, Michael Mosley as Jerry Tyson, Laura Coover as Susan Watts, Amy Rosoff as Katrina and Maya Goodwin as Laura.

‘Scandal’ Preview: “Where’s the Black Lady?”

I’m not really sure what the hell is going on over in Scandal-land. Last week’s midseason premiere honestly looked like Shonda had been watching a little too much Homeland over the break. First of all, Olivia of all people should know to never, NEVER tell anyone your secret let alone trust a stranger that’s been “kidnapped” and put in a weird room with you. I mean, I would NEVER tell anyone I was having an affair, let alone with the President. Ugh. So many questions. Also, why on earth would she drop the gun after only using one bullet. THERE WERE SO MANY LEFT!!! Last but not least, I want to know where I can go take a “How to file down your underwire to pick a lock” class!

Anyways, I digress. This week’s episode finds Olivia in the same place she was before; under the watch of some weird guy named Ian McLeod (Jason Butler Harner). Do we think these are the men Papa Pope was talking about when he said he wouldn’t protect her anymore? They seem extremely prepared and know everything about Ms. Olivia Pope.

Now that the team knows about her kidnapping, they’ll do everything they can to bring her home safely.

The synopsis for “Where’s the Black Lady?”:

With Olivia still missing, the team comes together to do whatever it takes to find her and get her home safely.
