‘Master of None’ Season 2 Will Premiere in 2017

master-of-none

Probably one of the best shows of 2016 has officially been renewed for a second season!

According to Aziz Ansari, who announced the big news on Twitter, Master of None will return in 2017!

The witty 10 half-hour episode series debuted on Netflix back in November and was a huge hit. Even my parents watched it…and loved it! It catered to everyone and touched upon some everyday topics and feelings that not a lot of shows address.

Best known for his role on the award-winning series Parks and Recreation, comedian Aziz Ansari wrote, starred and directed Master of None, a Netflix original comedy series loosely based on his own life experiences. The series follows Dev, a 30-year-old actor in New York who is still trying to figure out his life including relationships, family, the immigrant experience, work and friendship.

The season 1 finale left us uncertain of where Dev would end up. Maybe we’ll find ourselves in Japan or maybe Italy? I hope he took pictures of the pasta he made!

The show was created by Ansari and Parks and Recreation writer Alan Yang. The series is executive produced by Aziz Ansari, Alan Yang, Michael Schur, Dave Becky, and David Miner.

AMC, along with Channel 4 and Kudos, have renewed its newest sci-fi series Humans for a second season, 8-episode pickup with production starting next year.

Penned by British writing partners Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley (SpooksSpooks: The Greater Good) and based on the award-winning Swedish sci-fi drama Real Humans from Matador Films, the series’ first season tapped into society’s preoccupation with and mistrust of advancing technology and artificial intelligence. What does it mean to be human? Can the very traits through which we define humanity (love, trust, loyalty, friendship, sacrifice) be taught? What really is family?  Exploring humans’ inherent fear of the unknown and the possible implications of granting machines consciousness, the final episodes will leave viewers on a thrilling cliff-hanger.

The first season averaged 2.0 million viewers and 1.0 million adults 25-54 through its first four episodes in live+3 ratings and the first episode was Channel 4’s highest rated originated drama in 20 years.

“We’re so pleased to announce a second season of Humans and extend our terrific partnership with Channel 4, Kudos and the stellar cast, crew and writers Sam and Jonathan,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and Sundance TV. “As one of the year’s top new cable series, Humans has been embraced by fans and critics across the U.S. and UK. We’re looking forward to continuing this very captivating story and further exploring the show’s parallel, Synth-filled world that hits so disturbingly close to home.”
