“The only thing in this world we can trust is ourselves…”

The Hosts have taken over. A curfew has been set. Welcome to USA’s new drama series Colony.

Instead of the usual story that strings us along from the very beginning with the Aliens invading and what happens next, Colony starts us off after that’s already happened. Now we’re dealing with the aftermath of how people are surviving the invasion and what they have to do to stay alive and keep their families together.

The show has a slow start, but will leave you wanting more by the end. The last few minutes will have you hooked, looking to hit play on the next episode.

From executive producers Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Ryan Condal (Hercules) comes USA’s newest, highly-anticipated drama Colony which is set in the near future and centers on one family’s struggle to survive and bring liberty back to the people of an occupied Los Angeles.

Josh Holloway (Lost) stars as former FBI agent Will Bowman and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead) stars as his wife, Katie, in the series which takes place in a dangerous world of divided ideologies.  While some choose to collaborate with the occupation and benefit from the new order, others rebel and suffer the consequences.  After being separated from their son during the invasion, Will and Katie are willing to do whatever is necessary to be reunited with him. Thus, when the powerful Proxy Snyder (Peter Jacobson, House) offers Will a chance to get his son back if he will collaborate with the occupational government, Will and Katie find themselves faced with the toughest decision of their lives.  They will have to go beyond whatever they thought possible, risking their lives and their relationship to protect their family.

Colony is a co-production between Legendary Television and Universal Cable Productions.   Nelson McCormick (“24”) also executive produces.

Colony premieres Thursday, January 14 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on USA.

In regards to juggling her schedule, Hurd responded by saying “for any project I work on, it’s important for me to imagine giving up so much of my life to bring it to the small screen.” Basically, she’s saying Hunters is worth the watch!

Hunters hails from executive producers Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead, The Terminator Trilogy) and Natalie Chaidez (12 Monkeys, Heroes), who will also serve as showrunner, and Emile Levisetti (Royal Pains). The series is inspired by best-selling author Whitley Strieber’s novel, Alien Hunter.

Syfy’s time-travel sophomore drama 12 Monkeys will return for an all-new 13-episode second season second with Aaron Stanford (James Cole), Amanda Schull (Dr. Cassandra Railly), Kirk Acevedo (Ramse), Emily Hampshire (Jennifer Goines), Barbara Sukowa (Katarina Jones) and Todd Stashwick (Deacon) reprising their roles.

12 Monkeys  follows the journey of Cole, a time traveler sent back in time from a dark, hellish future to prevent it from ever happening. Joining forces in the present with Dr. Railly, Cole must defeat a centuries-old malevolent organization known as the Army of the 12 Monkeys. As Cole, Railly and their unlikely allies get closer to the truth, they’ll learn there are deadly consequences for all of history … and time itself.

Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett (Nikita) are executive producers and showrunners, with Charles Roven (Batman v. Superman, Suicide Squad, American Hustle, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Suckle (Suicide Squad, American Hustle, The International) as executive producers. 12 Monkeys returns for a second season on Monday, April 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Syfy.

‘Playing House’ Renewed for Season 3 by USA Network

That body be bangin’…for a third season!!

The comedy from real-life best friends and creators Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham has been renewed for a third season, USA Network announced at the Television Critics Association winter session in Pasadena, CA.

USA President Chris McCumber was in the middle of talking when the ladies surprised the audience from the back of the room, bombarding him with questions on whether or not they’d get to come back. The comedy duo said “We NEED to see Keegan-Michael Key with his clothes off!” and that “it would be such a shame since the show ended up on multiple lists for 2015.”

It’s true, the season finale ended with Key and St. Clair’s characters finally, well, hopefully getting together. We were left not knowing what Mark wanted to tell Emma on her porch. AND THAT STUPID CONGA LINE for interrupting their moment!

Gale Anne Hurd’s ‘Falling Water’ Picked Up by USA

FALLING WATER -- "Pilot" -- Pictured: -- (Photo by: Giovanni Rufino/USA Network)

Falling Water has been picked up to series by USA Network, it was announced today at the Television Critics Association winter session in Pasadena, CA. The drama series is from executive producers Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead) of Valhalla Entertainment, Blake Masters (Brotherhood) and the late Emmy Award-winner Henry Bromell (Homeland).

Falling Water is the story of three unrelated people, who slowly realize that they are dreaming separate parts of a single common dream.  Each of them is on a mysterious and highly personal quest — one is searching for his missing girlfriend, one is searching for a lost child, one is looking to cure his catatonic mother — and it is the clues found in their collective dream that come to guide them.   The deeper they dig, though, the more they come to realize that their missions touch on stakes that are much larger than their individual agendas. That the visions found in their common dream just might hold the key to the fate of the world.

Ajala takes on the role of Burton, the head of in-house security for a multinational investment banking firm, whose personal and professional paranoia collide when an investigation into financial malfeasance at the firm leads to a backlash that engulfs his love life.  Meanwhile, Lee is Taka, an intuitive NYPD Detective, whose leap-of-faith insights put him on the trail of an obscure dream-obsessed cult; and Brochere plays Tess, a cutting edge trend spotter with an uncanny ability to predict the next big thing, who is haunted by nightly dreams of an absent child.

Falling Water captivated us with its cinematic journey and unique exploration into the power of the dream world,” said Jackie de Crinis, Executive Vice President Original Programming, USA Network, “It is an edge-of-your-seat thriller that reveals a race to control the collective conscience.”

“Today’s world demands shows that both challenge and reward the audience in spectacular ways,” said Jeff Wachtel, President and Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. Falling Water is the type of show that can move the needle of popular culture with its thrilling exploration of the dark side of the mind.”

The pilot was written and co-created by Masters and Bromell and is from Universal Cable Productions (UCP). Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) directed the pilot and will also executive produce the series.  Bromell and Masters previously teamed up on Brotherhood and AMC’s short-lived series, Rubicon.  David Ajala (Fast & Furious 6), Will Yun Lee (Hawaii 5-0) and Lizzie Brochere (American Horror Story: Asylum) are set to star in the series.

Falling Water is the first pilot to be greenlit off of USA Network’s 2015/2016 slate.  Still in contention are the Ryan Phillippe-led Shooter, Brooklyn Animal Control, The Wildling and Poor Richard’s Almanack.

‘The Originals,’ ‘Vampire Diaries’ Midseason Crossover Event Confirmed

The vampire gang is getting back together…for a crossover.

At the Television Critics Association’s winter session, CW President Mark Pedowitz announced that The Vampire Diaries along with its spinoff series The Originals will have a crossover episode later this season.

“You will see, organically, a crossover this year,” said Pedowitz. He adds that it won’t be “the size or scope that you see on The Flash and Arrow. They have to be organic and make sense. If it doesn’t make sense storywise, don’t force it.”

The fans have been hoping for a crossover episode for a while, so this will be an exciting event. Plus, this news comes after the network moved both series to Friday nights. Pedowitz responded by saying that “the move is not to exile the shows, but to strengthen Friday night.”

The Vampire Diaries returns Friday, Jan. 29 at 8/7 c followed by The Originals at 9/8c on the CW.

“This season changes everything for Claire and Jamie”

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been feeling empty inside without some Outlander in my life. I’VE BEEN IN DROUGHTLANDER!!!! Last we saw Jamie and Claire, they found out they were pregnant and about to board a ship to France to see about changing the future…well, Jamie’s future and Claire’s knowledge of the past.

At the Television Critics Association winter session, Starz gave the fans a bit of a teaser for what’s to come in season 2 of Outlander.

1. Bienvenue en France
The teaser showed Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) in France because that’s where Prince Charles Stuart is along with the rest of the Jacobites. They attend galas and dinners at the King’s palace in order to infiltrate the Jacobite movement in hopes of stopping the battle of Culloden.

2.  New Characters
Caitriona and Sam are excited for us to see the new cast members that are joining their little show. “We hRichard Rankin_Roger Wakefieldave some fantastic new characters coming in. There are new enemies, new allies,” added Heughan. Scottish actor Richard Rankin has been cast to play the fan favorite role of Roger Wakefield in season two. Roger is described as “intelligent, kindhearted, and charming, Roger is the grown up version of Reverend Wakefield’s adorable adopted son we met in Season One.  After his parents died in World War II, Roger was raised by the Reverend (with help from his housekeeper, Mrs. Graham) and is a proud Scot through and through. Now a professor at Oxford, Roger has a keen interest in history, and all the secrets and insight it presents.”

3.  Diana Gabaldon on her writing
Dayum! A reporter tried to get Diana Gabaldon to throw some serious shade today, referencing George R.R. Martin’s inability to finish the book in time for Game of Thrones.“Unlike George, I write no matter where I am or whatever I’m doing.” Gabaldon added, “I don’t plan books out ahead of time or write in a straight line. I knew there was more to Outlander after the first book.” She says it’s been a very collaborative process and has even written one of the episodes in the upcoming season.

4.   Premiere Date
While we still don’t have an exact date, we do know that the second season of Outlander will premiere in April 2016 on Starz.

5.  The costumes
Terry Dresbach did a phenomenal job on the upcoming season. Check out some of the gorgeous pieces Caitriona and Sam get to wear in season two.
